Suggestions for meeting organisers

High season for interpreters in Western Europe is from March until July and from September until mid December. In low season, availability is higher and hence an opportunity for meeting organisers.

It happens quite often that meeting organisers book interpreters at the last minute. Please bear in mind, however, that interpreters tend to be fully booked weeks ahead in high season. For some language combinations, finding interpreters at all might become difficult. Please don't forget to book interpreting equipment as well.

As in other areas, it is best for the interpreter to be prepared when entering the arena. For an optimal interpreting performance it is important that interpreters familiarize with the subject covered on the meeting. Here the meeting organiser can be a great help by making available meeting documents, such as Powerpoint presentations which speakers will be using on the meeting, or by referring to websites with relevant information.
